About Us. I have been making brushes for over 25 years and feel lucky to enjoy my work. When I left school I qualified as a Nurse in Gynaecology and during this time I met my former husband whose family manufactured Ceramic Brushes. Soon afterwards I became interested in Artists Brushes and particularly Water Colour Brushes. It seemed Artists where paying high retail prices and not always getting the quality of availability. I had the idea of advertising brushes to be sold by post! Now it is called ‘Mail Order’. I took the old company (ABS Brushes) from strength to strength with my little packets of brushes going down to the post office each evening. Needless to say I finished nursing and concentrated on the brush business. I have always believed that if you adopt what is now considered an ‘old fashioned’ approach to business, customers appreciate you and usually remain loyal to your product. Indeed many of my customers have become friends and have been with me since the beginning. For personal reasons I left my old company over five years ago and divorced my former husband. I started my new company soon after and hopefully will build again! I’m fortunate that my work has taken me all around the world sourcing materials and watching other manufacturers. I believe the various styles of manufacture have helped me adopt my own unique way of making brushes. Many Artists are surprised when they see me making brushes by hand for the first time! Indeed lots of you say how much ‘kinder’ you will be to your Sable Brushes afterwards! My reward for the long hours and hard work is to watch an Artists facial expression the first time they try one of my brushes! The usual comment is ‘it points’. My Sable Brushes should point beautifully, they are hand made in a brass goblet and teased into a tapered point. Obviously using only the best quality raw materials helps.
For the Oil/Acrylic Artists amongst you I make a comprehensive range also. You can choose from ChungKing Bristle, Golden Taklon & Mongoose through to a unique strong nylon called 'Shiraz'. My new range of ivory brushes designed for oils has become very SUCCESSFUL,is durable keeping a good shape and really easy to clean.
I trust you will enjoy my brushes and always appreciate your custom.
Please tell your friends where I am! Kind Regards, Rosemary
