Set 170. Masters Choice For Oils
The Masters Choice is an interesting hair with distinctive markings and a semi-stiff firmness of stroke, made from a blend of male & female badger hairs. The hair is responsive and firm, yet gives almost a velvet feel. They are a unique blend of badger hairs (once were the mongoose hair). They are absolutely brilliant for Alla Prima work, allowing you to work ‘wet on wet’ without pulling the paint away. They are ideal for adding highlights and tonal values. They are resilient, and will wear down well. A favourite for portrait painters, landscapes and Alla Prima work. The entire range of the Masters Choice are excellent for blending in Oils.
We've put this set together consisting of our most popular shapes and sizes to give you a taster of what this hair has to offer.
The Series 279. Masters Choice Long Flats and the Series 278. Masters Choice Long Filberts were designed and developed with the help of some of America’s finest oil painters. Thank you Morgan Weistling, Tony Pro and Jeremy Lipking. The Series 105. Masters Choice Fans brush is what we would consider, the best fan brush available. This brush should become a little go-to for you to soften and knock back edges easily. They have the right fill of hair to make them soft enough to move paint around without picking it back up. The perfect little blending brush! The Series 275. Masters Choice Angular is a favourite for many botanical artists. They hold a chisel edge and yet can be used on their side and with a point. They are a 3-in-1 brush and I’m sure you’ll consider them a favourite from this set! The Series 276. Masters Choice Filberts are excellent for intricate detail, getting into corners and for a fuller stroke than a typical round brush. The Series 272. Masters Choice Rounds larger rounds are brilliant for laying on colour and broader marks and as they go smaller they are ideal for blending. The Series 274. Masters Choice Flats allow a much sturdier brush with a stronger "snap" creating sharper edges and control. Ideal for blocking in and impasto. The Series 273. Masters Choice Riggers (also known as a liner or script brush) is great for thin, fine lines. For example, tree branches, tufts of grass, hair and of course for drawing. The longer length of the hair gives a flexible and forgiving brush stroke.
