Series 91. Pure Sable Filbert
Ideal for Watercolours and Oils (the latter usually preferred on the long handles). The natural characteristics of the Red Sable hair offer a good "belly", allowing a liquid holding capacity greater than, the Golden Synthetic for example.
This hair has a beautiful spring and upon retouching the paper, will flow and release water similiar to a fountain pen. For Oils, the Red Sable are a good choice if one can afford, and where a softness with a delicate spring is required.
The oval end of the Series 91 can be used to both make sweeping strokes but also fine lines when held vertically. Also known as a "cat's tongue", these brushes have a beautiful point which allows for fine detail.
Favourites in portraiture and botanical art.
If you prefer a synthetic alternative try our Red Dot Short Filbert.

ing through Open University meant my tutors didn't bother too much about brushes, so I did test a few cheap brushes which were adequate, but the consistent quality of Rosemary & Co brushes was head and shoulders above the rest - no wobbly ferrules, no fibres coming loose during painting and each brush feels nicely balanced whether it's held at the base or the tip for fine detail or looser expression. The attached image shows a painting compketed using only the 'Tisch dagger' brush in sizes 2, 4, and 6. I finally treated myself to some sable brushes for my birthday - redeeming the points I have accumulated with purchases and birthday points from Rosemary. The brushes did not disappoint! I feel this investment in my art will help to elevate my art to the next level, you feel that you need to paint well to do the brush justice. I can't see past Rosemary & Co and even get my students to use the ivory daggers, evergreen flats and cats tongue filberts when I teach classes. The consistent quality of all your brushes means I won't use any other brand. Read LessRead less about Having purchased Rosemary & Co

Good service and excellent value….but most important of all, they are perfect for my painting and detailed style.

My latest sable cats tongues are perfect for delicate, detailed work and also for edging as in the painting below.

Rosemary & Co brushes
After using other brush brands for over 20 years convinced they were the best, I ordered Rosemary & Co bristles and sables. They truly are the very best brushes available anywhere. The handmade quality is exceptional, the spring and suppleness of their brushes is far superior to any other.
